James River Brewery makes its home in a 19th century, brick tobacco warehouse in small-town, historic Scottsville, Virginia. Though it was once called James River Brewing company 2012-2015. In 2015 the current owners and brewing team took charge and business has been booming since. Not only has the Tap Room been renovated and state-wide distribution increase 300% since 2015.

 Scottsville is located at the great Horseshoe Bend in the James River, just 20 miles south of Charlottesville.  The town and its history are intertwined with the James  River: from flat-bottom river batteau boats of centuries past to present-day tubing, kayaking and recreational fishing. In our logo,setting and names of beers, James River Brewery honors the town, the river, and the past while always looking towards the future.
